"The role of a great teacher is to open doors, and not to push the pupil through" - Artur Schnabel

Rae de Lisle is currently Associate Professor of Piano at the University of Auckland. With nearly forty years experience to draw upon, and a succession of highly successful students, she has become the most sought after teacher of piano in New Zealand.

Many of her former students are now established as pianists and pedagogues all over the world. Rae received a Teaching Excellence Award from the University in 2011, and in the same year received the Marie Vandewart Award for outstanding service and commitment to fostering the love of chamber music in New Zealand.

Rae has done substantial research into musicians’ injuries and has graduated with a PhD on focal dystonia. She also is a regular presenter and speaker at national and international pedagogical conferences. Read more about Rae here.
